Learning Community

Learning Community

The Learning Community, a facilitated, collaborative online environment, is open to all educators. It brings educators from inside and outside the province together where they share expertise, discuss related issues and showcase innovation in online and distributed learning and other applications of technology to education.

The community hosts and promotes online discussion, webcasts, workshops and other formats to share information about professional learning events and supports professional work spaces and sub-communities.

Other uses of the community

  • Cultivating supporting professional educator communities of practice
  • Polling, needs assessment and other forms of evaluation
  • Networking and collaboration opportunities
  • Sharing of quality resources
  • Promoting current events and news.

Special Interest Group Use

The VSS Professional Learning Community provides an environment for non-profit educational Special Interest Groups to use as a community space. The space can be private or open to the community at large. If you belong to a group and would like to use the community to support discussion, sharing of resources or access to live meeting rooms and more, please contact the community facilitators through the LearnNow BC Service Desk.
Currently there are three groups that regularly use the space: ERAC LearnLink, Scientists in Residence and Critical Thinking Association (in progress).
