Key Competencies for Teachers in Distributed Learning

DL CompetenciesThe concept of teaching students that don’t attend classes face-to-face can be hard to imagine, but the basic expectations are the same. This includes the teacher’s responsibility for:

  • planning activities;
  • determining resources for the student to use;
  • meeting learning outcomes;
  • testing and exams;
  • writing report cards and
  • communicating with parents and other teachers.

Many teachers involved in distributed learning love it. It’s their opportunity to try new approaches and engage learners in different ways. Many also report that teaching this way does take some time to get used to.
